Yesterday at the 2nd floor of Office of the Senate held the FARMER’S and FISHERMEN’S month Exhibit. The event was led by no other than Senator Cynthia Villar. The senator also launched the directory of some accredited farm and farm school in the Philippines in simple ceremonies at the Senate.
Farmer’s and agri-venturer’s from all over the regions were present to witnessed the launching of “Directory of Farm School” this directory will serve as guide and reference to all the farm enthusiasts, interested trainees and tourist.
According to Senator Villar the chairman of the Committee on Agriculture “It is her hope that the directory will be useful in spreading the word about the joys of farming and it’s potential to lift people out of poverty. She also noted that Republic Act 10816 or the Farm Tourism Development Act, which she principally authored, paved the way for an increasing number of farmers, farm owners and farming communities to enjoy the benefits of converting their farms into tourist destination”.
The directory features farm tourism destinations and learning sites all over the Philippines including the two farm schools built by the VILLAR SIPAG (Social Institute for Poverty Alleviation and Governance) in Las Pinas City-Bacoor and San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. The list includes also the TESDA accredited courses on Agriculture which farm schools can teach and student farmers can avail of FREE in accredited learning sites nearby.
